Terrible sizing and quality.

Let me start by saying I love every sitka product I have ever owned and that includes the black fanatic hoodie I bought 3-4 years ago. I just purchased another one in the elevated pattern and will have to return it. I wear an XL in some Sitka products and a 2X in others. My first fanatic hoody was a 2x and fit snug after a couple washes so I went with the same size this time around. I’m guessing they’ve updated the model a little because there were several things different, and nothing in a positive way. Firs, it looked like a dress on me. Nowhere was it even remotely snug or typical of sitka’s normal fit. Secondly, the insulation is not near as heavy as my previous one. I would compare my original to the heavy weight hoody or maybe even a little warmer. This one is a core midweight at best in comparison. Lastly, the fit from the fold-over hand mitten to the kangaroo pouch does doesn’t have near the robustness or attention to detail that my former fanatic hoodie had. The kangaroo pouch is overly loose and sloppy. The mittens stick out in the palms where they were tight in the former version. In truth, I wouldn’t spend $50 on this hoodie let alone the price it’s currently at. Again, I’ve never had a piece of Sitka clothing I wouldn’t be willing to buy over again, but this one has become the first. It could be that I just received a lemon, which I truly hope is the case. But it’s being returned and won’t be purchased again until another update is made to it. I’ve uploaded photos of the original and the new to hopefully show what I mean in regards to the difference in quality of structure. I’m 6’1” 245 former college athlete for anyone needing a specific size comparison.

this was the first Sitka piece I bought due to so many other reviews online saying that this piece is the workhorse of the whitetail lineup. They were so right. I was looking for a new sleek hoodie for bow season in Alabama and I think this will fit the bill. I will layer this over my new equinox guard hoodie on those cooler days. Well thought out with the hand covers and much slimmer than a traditional hoodie but still has the mapped fleece on the inside to provide that good warmth.

Fanatic Hoody

Most comfortable, versatile piece of Sitka gear I own. It's great by its self in cool temps and really shines as a mid layer when it gets cold. I use it shooting sporting clays tournaments, deer hunting, duck hunting, and Friday night high school football games. If you only purchase one piece of Sitka make it this one!!

Badass

Only used it for spring turkey but it was easily a stand alone layer in 40-50 degree weather. Super comfortable and durable held up to branch snags and no pilling or color fade after several washes.

Strange smell

I know it sounds crazy, but there was a smell that I just couldn’t get past. I read all the reviews. I read things online to say how to clean it how to take that chemically induced smell that comes from synthetic fiber clothing, but the fact of the matter is the fanatic hoodie is meant to not have any smell in it. This had one that was very strong. I love this thing probably in my top three pieces and didn’t even bother me that I had smelled it and then thought let me try it on still and trying it on my, arm caught the tags and they came off so I was the owner of a smelly fanatic hoodie. as in good fashion, they’ve taken it in for evaluation, however it comes out. I will always have a fanatic hoodie. And just for reference I went to a store and like a weirdo smelled pieces of SITKA none of them had an off smell.

MUST HAVE

This is bar far my go to piece every time I hit the hills. Fits amazing and is super comfortable.

If you own a fanatic

If you own a fanatic hoody, you know how great this piece of clothing is. If you do not own one, you need one. It is a great for layering or just a stand alone piece. I own 3 of them, all different patterns. I purchased the black one to hunt from inside my elevated deer blinds. The built in hand covers and facemask are awesome! I would highly recommend this garment!

This is the first piece of Sitka gear that I ever bought when I decided to take the plunge. This is a great product that's heavy enough to wear by itself on your hike in on cold mornings and provides ample warmth as a base layer with the stratus jacket I have. The sewn in mitts and face mask are a game changer. If you're going with Sitka, this piece is a must have.

I purchased this in the off season, so I haven't had an opportunity to use it yet. From trying it on, it was everything it was advertised to be. Looking forward the the fall when I can use it.

Fanatic Hoodie

Great hoodie so far, haven't gotten to use it towards it's full potential yet. Early morning runs in the bass boat 50-60F warm and comfortable. As for fit, if you measure in the chest as "large" but have broad shoulders size up to the XL. This hoodie is cut more trim and you'll find the fabric tight in the armpits and uncomfortable.

This is a very versatile hoody. With the built in face mask and hand covers you can’t go wrong with this. Yes it is expensive and anyone on the fence about making the investment I highly recommend it. I’m 6’4” 230lbs and the XL fits me perfectly.

Fanatic Hoodie

It is a good mid-layer for cold and/or wet weather situations. Also, it works well as a outer-layer in cool and/or dry conditions. Half-zip allows easy on and off. I bought a size LARGE. It allows ample room for a wicking base-layer. Not being overly bulky permits it to be worn easily under my size LARGE shell jackets.

I ordered a XL and am happy I did. Depending on the use and layering, I bounce between a L and XL. This fits perfectly with a little room to layer. The wind stopping of this hoodie is great for spring hunts here in WI.
