Great piece of gear! I

Great piece of gear! I used this as a standalone in warmer weather and it functions as advertised. Comfortable, dries quickly and is not restrictive to movement.

Great base layer. Breathed perfectly.

Great base layer. Breathed perfectly. Used the hood and face shield to keep out of the Idaho sun on a backcountry elk hunt. Only downside was that the material started to wear beneath the shoulder straps of my pack after a week.

A staple in my backcountry

A staple in my backcountry gear. It is a light weight stretchy fabric that wicks the sweat away. At first I was nervous of the material as it appeared thin and I thought it might rip easily. I do a lot of bushwhacking through some nasty bush. Well after some hard hunts parts of my exposed skin were torn up but the fabric did not even appear to fray. I am very impressed and appreciative with the quality Sitka is putting out. I would definitely recommend this piece of gear.

Does the job, probably would

Does the job, probably would not perform under 20 degrees. I'd prefer wool for that. The face mask and hood are kid of annoying when you aren't using them.

This is a 4-season premium

This is a 4-season premium technical workhorse. It is one of three shirts/designs that I spend 95%+ of my outdoor time in. Very versatile. The airy polyester knit fabric (in the 100gsm range) manages moisture very well. Fit and finish is very clean. The hood is well designed - it stays put in the wind and/or when running, and doesn't impact vision. The fabric can/does snag, but durability is acceptable given the overall performance of the piece. I'm a sample size medium across every other technical outdoor brand I own clothing from; size medium in the Core LW Hoody fits me very well. You may or may not find the face mask useful - it can aid concealment but some users may find the additional fabric around the neck to be extraneous on an otherwise cleanly minimalist piece (it's easily removable with a pair of scissors). $130 is a lot to pay for a shirt, but this is one of those 'quiver killer' pieces of gear.

This is the most utilized

This is the most utilized piece I own. I wear it stand alone September-October. I’ll sometimes throw a light jacket on over the top on morning sits. It’s extremely breathable but the hood and built in mask is enough to keep the bugs off direct skin contact. With a case, the chest pocket is a little bit too small for my phone. 10/10.

The Core Lightweight Hoodie immediately

The Core Lightweight Hoodie immediately became one of my favorite pieces. Early bow season for whitetails and dove, teal, geese……wow. Love this hoodie. It’s even become a go to for summer boating and fishing.

This shirt is perfect in

This shirt is perfect in every way! I have always been a merino wool guy until hunting all 2021 in this shirt only. If I needed to get warmer, I just add layers then strip them off as it warms up. I'm 5'9' 190 crossfit build and the large fits awesome! Also its a perfect shirt for turkey hunting with the built in face mask.

I already had this piece

I already had this piece in EVII and it had become one of my favorite Go-To pieces that I wore as an outer layer in early fall, and mid-layer in late fall and winter because of the convenient built-in facemask. It is also a 'no-guess' layer, whereas the fanatic hoody may be too heavy as a layer when deciding which layer to remove as the day started to warm up, I could count on the core lightweight hoody. This year, I decided on purchasing this piece in black for night-time feral hog and coyote hunting during the hot and humid south Alabama summer nights. I wore it this weekend over a HECS top and it was PERFECT!! So lightweight and comfortable and, again, the built-in facemask was perfect. I am now thinking of purchasing this piece in subalpine for the turkey season next spring. This is absolutely one of my most versatile Sitka Gear pieces.

The perfect base layer for colder weather and the only layer needed during warmer weather. The built in facemask is a great feature. The first piece of gear you should have in your kit.

The only time I don't

The only time I don't wear this is when I'm running my Fanatic Hoody! The built-in face mask is clutch!

Got this as a gift.

Got this as a gift. One of the best gifts I have ever got. I use this hoody in every situation, early, mid and late season. From whitetail and turkey hunting in the south east to moose hunting in Alaska. Great product. The one and only con I have with it, is the chest pocket I wish the zipper was on top not the side. I have forgot to zip it when I put my turkey calls in it, and they gone.

I highly recommend the Core

I highly recommend the Core Lightweight Hoody. I have used it on early season deer and multiple antelope hunts. A necessary piece of gear when the temperatures are hot.

My husband and I both

My husband and I both have this hoody & it is the best. Well worth the money. Living in Arizona, this hoody is our go to and has replaced all our other sun hoodies. From 90 degrees to keep the sun rays off us to 30 degree base layer and then when it heats up during the day this is all we need. It does snag easy, but that to be expected with such a lightweight hoody. I’m 5’6” 130 lbs and the medium is big on me mostly in the arms. I would have gotten a small if it was an option. My husband is 5’11” 175 lbs and the large fits perfect.

This was my first sitka

This was my first sitka purchase and I was very pleased with it! This hoody is very comfortable and I really like the hood and built in mask. I'm 6'1 245-255lbs and a XXL fits me great. I can't speak to the durability of it yet but at first glance it feels pretty sturdy. I plan on buying a couple more!

I got my first one

I got my first one second hand. I loved it so much I bought 3 more. They are the perfect everyday wear and a must have for any early season hunt. I wore this for almost 10 days on a early season elk hunt and it performed wonderfully every step of my 100 miles for the hunt.

I used to own other

I used to own other brands base layers, until I bought this. All I can say is wow, it is worth the money. I wear this now instead of a T-shirt while setting stands and cameras in the summer. I also wear it as my base layer on every single whitetail hunt. Great product

Awesome shirt! Perfect for teal and October hunting here in MN. Maybe the only thing I would add would be a slit in the face mask to lose less air while calling.

Do they not offer the

Do they not offer the Core Lightweight pants to match? All I find are what look to be base layer bottoms in the Core Lightweight. They do not look like the ones he is wearing in the pics here.

My go to piece for

My go to piece for early season archery hunting. When it's hot out and all that you're doing is sweating, this is the piece to have. Works well as a base layer for late season but I prefer Merino at that time of year for a little more warms. Overall, no complaints.

A core piece of the

A core piece of the system. Put it on first and the rest of the system protects you. This is essential. It doesn’t matter if it’s 95°F or 0°F, this is the first thing on and build off of it. Absolutely amazing.

Honestly would love to see

Honestly would love to see this lightweight option in Women's. The heavyweight is great for chilly mornings but would GREATLY enjoy an option with a hood and face covering that can be worn all day long.

I love the light weight

I love the light weight core line. The quality is great and the solids can be worn casually or while skiing/climbing... If you are having a tough decision about whether to get LG or XL, go with the XL. I can normally wear a LG in Sitka, but the core hoody is definitely an XL. I'll buy every color.

I was always an UA

I was always an UA / Merino guy until I tried this shirt. The ability for this shirt to dry when I sweat it out in a short amount of time kept me comfortable in hot weather and high exertion. It's also a very comfortable against the skin layer. I was worried about the feel of having a zipper next to my chest and it's not been an issue at all. They've done a great job of making it extremely comfortable even for those of us with chest hair.

Literally the best lightweight base

Literally the best lightweight base layer ever! Choose your camo or solid and just order it. The hood/face mask for hunting or event cold alpine hikes is amazing. I've been hiking or climbing in the Rocky Mountains for the last 15 years and I love this base layer. It's usually all you need if you're active on that movement. Just keep your shell in your bag and you're good to go!

This is my favorite piece

This is my favorite piece of my system. It is so light weight and breathable it isn't even right. I'm going into my second season wearing sitka and this is my absolute go to shirt. I'm in the middle of scouting in 90-108 degree weather up in the mountains and this shirt keeps the sun off me and keeps me cool. I'm looking forward to using it this bow season as well. Hands down by far a must to start off any system.

I wore this as my

I wore this as my base layer nearly the entire season. From 95 to 0F. I don't like face paint nor wearing much of anything on my face. But when some camo is needed, the built in mask (plus hood) of this works perfectly and does not become uncomfortable or cause issues with hat(s) or a hood I might be wearing. Probably wore it on 70 hunts last season and it shows zero wear. My favorite new piece of Sitka Gear.

Best synthetic lightweight shirt I

Best synthetic lightweight shirt I own. I use it for everything warm weather! The face mast is great for turkey hunting and spot/stalk elk and deer.

This is a great all

This is a great all purpose piece. Big game, turkey and early season white tail. Its extremely versatile as a stand alone piece or used for layering. The built in facemask is another great feature and is super breathable. I use it for early season whitetail and turkey in Alabama and it is exactly what i need for those hot days.

This is my base layer

This is my base layer most of the season. Spring & fall turkey, teal and early season whitetail. Great athletic fit and the hood + facemask combo is fantastic.

I own three of these

I own three of these and primarily use them as base layer for warm weather (over 32 deg F) pheasant hunting. Hood is great in windy cold conditions or as temps drop later in the day Also use as a primary layer during warm weather archery hunting. For those wondering about fit....I'm 6'1', 200 lbs with long torso, and prefer a loose fit. 2XL is a perfect fit for me. Only improvement offer I have is adding blaze orange to the existing color choices.

I purchased this top from

I purchased this top from Sitka prior to whitetail season here in Kansas. I have been using it for both ground and stand hunting in both a single top and as a layering piece. The garment has performed flawlessly during temps in the 80's down to the 30's and is extremely functional. It is comfortable, dries quickly, and is very lightweight which makes layering easy. The hood and facemask are very functional and eliminates carrying extra clothes around. The hood is especially convenient to keep wind off the skin. On sub 40°F temp days, I use this as a base layer so I have the hood to utilize under my hat as I hate having thick balaclavas or stocking hats over my ears. Combine it with a mid-layer and the Stratus system and I am good to go. A large fits perfect and I am 5'8', 175lbs. I'll be purchasing more of this garment in the future.

If I could only keep

If I could only keep one piece of my Sitka Gear, this would be it...I never walk into the turkey woods without it. The built-in mask is my favorite feature. If you've ever got setup first thing in the morning then realize you've forgotten your mask or have a gobbler come in on you unexpectedly and you have to search thru your vest to find your mask, you know what I'm talking about. In today's social environment, I find it equally advantageous. I bought a couple of extra in black and wear one every time I back my truck out of the garage. They are as comfortable to wear all day long as any shirt I own and any time I need to stop for gas or run into a store, I have my mask.

This is my favorite piece

This is my favorite piece of clothing and I use it as a base layer pretty much 90% of the time. Super lightweight, breathable, and dries very fast. Holds up to wear and tear way better than I would have thought considering how thin the material is. My only complaint is I can’t find this in medium tall size any longer. Please bring that size back! I absolutely loved that more athletic fit. I have it in subalpine in medium tall and was hoping to get this same layer in that size in black and open country. Overall I would recommend this piece of gear every time and many others of Sitka! Love your stuff!

Awesome shirt! I was out

Awesome shirt! I was out for 13 hrs in warm September Virginia weather this week and was sweating but was able to shoot my first deer. The. do I harvested may have smelled me, but looked right through me because of this hoody. Highly recommend this shirt with the hat, gloves, and equinox pants. After I got home I was so impressed I ordered the fanatic jacket and bibs for when it gets colder.

This should be a staple

This should be a staple in every hunter's kit. No other base layer is as versatile and comfortable in my opinion. Get one in every pattern you need.

I wore the lightweight hoody

I wore the lightweight hoody for a full season. For the most part I enjoyed the versatility as a base layer and the ability to be worn alone. It shed moisture and heating amazingly and exactly what I expected for it. If I wore it for more than two day straight, it smelt very ripe. The material also LOVES to find Velcro, so there are spots that continue to find velcro so those spots in the fabric are extremely frayed, it’s very annoying. Other than smelling terrible and the Velcro seeking material, I love it and definitely recommend it to anyone who asks.

Love the material. Wish the hood didn’t have to be up for the face mask to be up. Is very comfortable. Even in extremely hot climates, like a Florida swamp in the summer time! Nothing else survives that kind of heat!

Recently used this in the

Recently used this in the Mid Atlantic woods (85 degrees). It performed flawlessly and I did not overheat. It provides excellent bug protection as well. I didn’t have Deet on and I didn’t get bitten once I originally bought the Equinox hoodie, but found it too warm for early season. The core lightweight is perfect. I’m keeping the Equinox for mid season

I really like the lightweight

I really like the lightweight hoody! I have the black, subalpine and open country. It is a great piece and versatile in so many scenarios. I would buy multiple more in solids if they come to the market.

This is easily the absolute

This is easily the absolute best hot weather, high country layer out there. I usually hike in a t shirt and throw this on at my glassing point to keep the sun off me and stay cool. Its also my concealment piece when moving in on the stalk. I run hot, so I also use this as my base layer in the late season. I'll hike in just this then throw on my puffy and start glassing when at the top!

I bought this hoody before

I bought this hoody before my Idaho archery hunt. I lived in this thing everyday for 16 days straight. I only took it off at night or throughout the day to dip it in a creek and let it hang dry. it dries quick, breathes really well and the 'shooter's' fit is perfect! (I'm 5ft 9in/185lbs/size L) I love the hood/mask combo for spot/stalk, I got within 10 yards of some whitetail Doe's undetected. This textile held up better than I thought especially going thru this thick north Idaho brush/deadfall trying to find Elk. you get what you pay for and I believe it's worth the money.

a crucial piece so any sitka system. i put this on for the first hunt of the season and it doesnt get put away until after the last hunt of the season. it is the first piece of clothing that comes out of my bag. the fabric is very comfortable, wicks moisture extremely well and dries out very fast. i love the face mask, but if you dont use the face mask you dont even notice it. anytime i recommend sitka gear to someone i always tell them to start with the base layers. base layers can make or break your hunt if you dont have on the right pieces that work for you.
